Nice. These boards are pretty neat! It looks like there are already a couple of carbon fiber skateboard manufacturers out there. Seems particularly useful for longboards. On the shortboard side, I wonder if the longevity would outweigh the expense?

I totally missed this one but it's way too cool and crazy to pass up!

Red Bull put together a floating skate/BMX park made out of composites suspended beneath a hot air balloon:

That's big NOPE for me, but maybe some of you would give it a shot?

The ultra lite carbon fiber toilet made me smile. We have a small boat and we got a toilet seat from West Marine that fits on a 5 gallon bucket. LOL

It was probably 3 weeks of nights and weekend efforts to wet layup and trim all the parts.

That's actually way less time than I would have thought. Did you just use a regular storm trooper set to make the molds?

I worked for Monogram Systems, now Safran Water and Waste Systems in Carson CA.

They developed this carbon composite toilet (the pedestal is carbon fiber), and not only is it lighter than typical aircraft toilets, but still able to withstand a lot of crap!  On top of that, because of its lightness it's much easier for the maintenance techs to replace (they tend to get used often).

Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles.  I used a set for over 2000 miles. They are so nice and light, and such a differences over the heavier standard ones. Such a huge differences in being able to control their placement, and not tiring my arms out over a course of 12 hours a day of hiking.

Check this out if you want to try your hand at making your own set of walking poles. Not telescoping, but super light.
