It looks like there are already a couple of carbon fiber skateboard manufacturers out there. Seems particularly useful for longboards. On the shortboard side, I wonder if the longevity would outweigh the expense? 1 Quote
lo_0l Posted February 6, 2023 Author Posted February 6, 2023 You can grab Carbon Fiber ❤️'s at Simply Carbon Fiber. It looks like you can get an extra heart and 25% off with code VAL25! These are super cool for keychains and would make pretty sweet dog and cat tags. 1 Quote

lo_0l Posted June 5, 2023 Author Posted June 5, 2023 I totally missed this one but it's way too cool and crazy to pass up! Red Bull put together a floating skate/BMX park made out of composites suspended beneath a hot air balloon: That's big NOPE for me, but maybe some of you would give it a shot? 3 Quote
lo_0l Posted August 17, 2023 Author Posted August 17, 2023 Apparently they make carbon fiber welding helmets! You can grab a Carbon Fiber Pancake Welding Hood from CMR Fabrications: Quote
Nell Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 The ultra lite carbon fiber toilet made me smile. We have a small boat and we got a toilet seat from West Marine that fits on a 5 gallon bucket. LOL Quote

How long did it take to lay all of that up per set? It looks pretty good! Was it done with a wet layup or prepreg? 1 Quote
Jeremy Senne Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 It was probably 3 weeks of nights and weekend efforts to wet layup and trim all the parts. Quote

That's actually way less time than I would have thought. Did you just use a regular storm trooper set to make the molds? Quote
Jeremy Senne Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Yeah it was an off-the-shelf stormtrooper suit. A wet layup fiberglass splash mold was made off of that set, then the carbon fiber set was made from the splash mold. Quote

I worked for Monogram Systems, now Safran Water and Waste Systems in Carson CA. They developed this carbon composite toilet (the pedestal is carbon fiber), and not only is it lighter than typical aircraft toilets, but still able to withstand a lot of crap! On top of that, because of its lightness it's much easier for the maintenance techs to replace (they tend to get used often). Quote

Tanoak Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 Carbon Fiber Trekking Poles. I used a set for over 2000 miles. They are so nice and light, and such a differences over the heavier standard ones. Such a huge differences in being able to control their placement, and not tiring my arms out over a course of 12 hours a day of hiking. https://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en_US/product/alpine-carbon-cork/ Quote
Tanoak Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 My near 1lb two person ultralight Z Packs Duplex tent can use the the above carbon fiber trekking poles for support, but I've also had a lot of success using 2.6oz carbon fiber poles with it. Really nice having the light weight and strength that the carbon fiber composite poles supplied.
