How are things typically attached to the ends of the rods? My use case happens to be a tripod/trekking pole, so I want to interface the carbon fiber rod with the bits at either end and a threaded hole seems apropos to me, but if there's another way that's typical for carbon fiber rods I'm interested.
Does Rock West make plugs with threaded holes, such as 1/4-20 or 3/8-16, for attaching things? Seems like a common problem that would already have a solution. I've attached a simple design of what I have in mind.
Threaded hole plugs for attaching things?

I would imagine this being made from aluminum.
