I work with birds of prey (think falconry) and have wanted to get areal footage from my bird's point of view for years now. Problem is go pro cameras are too bulky and heavy for the birds to wear and they also dont have any practical way to attach to the bird.
Recently I found a really tiny camera and now I'm wondering how I might be able to design a harness system and camera housing out of carbon fiber to attach to my birds. I'm just on the beginning planning process now but the idea has me really excited and I had to share 🙂
Wow, that sounds super cool! How long have you been a falconer? I'm kinda scared of birds but hawks are pretty cool.

Sorry Richie, I'd missed this.
So on the back of mirror covers for cars there are tabs that allow it to snap into the mirror covers. I can take a picture later and post it here.
Have you been able to work on your mirrors yet? Please share a pic when you do

Hey! Nice to see the admins actually participate here.
The mirror covers sound cool. Have you gotten a chance to start on those yet?

Hi Mongo! I think your dream of building a car from the ground up is awesome and super ambitious. I'm into cars too, but definitely dont have the confidence to start from scratch, at least not yet. What sorts of things have you built so far? Or are you focusing on planning and design first? Just interested in picking your brain a bit

Hi John! I'm brand new to experimenting with composites, mostly for customizing my car right now, but Im super eager to learn and make new things. Looking forward to learning from an expert!

A carbon fiber ukulele?! Now thats rad. Can you post a pic?

Nice to meet you Monica! Have you found any interesting composites research or new applications to share? I always find it really interesting how many different things can be made with composites and feel like the only limit is our imaginations.

I know what you mean, there's SO much different stuff out there. I wish someone had videos/classes + a project kit.
Yes! I get sucked into watching video after video. I would totally take a class, even online, especially if it jad a project kit to go with it. The videos are great but I need some hands on experience to really learn how to do this.

Hey! I'm interested in making some custom car parts too. What have you guys done so far?

I want to remake the shifter surround out of carbon fiber and the switch plates for the windows and door locks.
Have you done the switch plates yet? I need pics for inspiration

It might be a good idea to get some spare parts to work from. eBay is a good source for that. I’ve built some gear shift knobs and I always start with spare parts on eBay. You can use it to make the molds or practice skinning. That way you always have the actual part to keep on the car until yo u get it finished.
Below pic is of my ‘18 Crosstrek 6 speed manual shift knob.
Nice! Youve given me some inspiration! I have a 2017 WRX. Have you done other interior customization?

Hi Joar!
I don't have any pointers to give since Im new too, but always glad to find other hobbyists. Hoping we can learn a lot from each other!

Hi Richie! Good to aee another hobbyist here, although it seems like you already have a lot of experience. What have you been working on? Anything you'd recommend for a novice?

Hey guys,
I'm a big hobby guy and just started getting into the idea of playing around with composites. This seemed like a cool place to get ideas and share tips.
What's everyone working on these days?

Oh awesome! I used to board all the time. This kinda makes me want to get back to it
