JohnC
Complex question. Switching from aluminum axial flux motor rotors to forged carbon. So many questions for the gurus. 1) What clearance should I design into the hole of my forged carbon rotors so I can bond them to the RockWest Pulbraided tubes that are .984 nominal od. 2) Would this be the same clearance for an aluminum or carbon steel rotors? 3) This motor will have non conductive internal cooling but for longevity would a fiberglass bond seperator be needed to prevent corrosion if metal parts contact the shaft. 4) How accurate are the tolerances of the Pullbraided tubes? 5) What adhesive is recommended? 6) Attaching metal to the end of the shafts for bearing surfaces and motor connections would attaching to the OD or the ID of the Pullbraided tubes provide a better bond.
